Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce students to problems of sports medicine in the Czech Republic and around the world. Students become familiar with conception of the field of physical education medicine, sports medicine problems of individual sports branches and questions concerning diagnostics of health state, physical development and fitness.

Content
|
Sports medicine in the Czech Republic and around the world. Conception of the field of sports medicine. The place of movement activity in lifestyle of a modern man. Preventive sports medical examinations. Physical fitness and its diagnostics (in the lab and in terrain). Metabolic syndrome, ischemic heart disease - incidence and prevention. Fitness and sports form. Rationale nutrition of an athlete. Artificial supplements and doping in sport. Sports injuries and accident occurrence. The first aid. Principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Content of seminars:
1. Sports medicine examination, evaluation of health state and physical development.
2. Methodology of testing of cardio-respiratory capacity in the lab. Health groups.
3. Diagnostics of fitness in top level sport. Aerobic and anaerobic threshold.
4. Diagnostics of fatigue in top level sport. Delayed muscle soreness.
5. Specifics of sports activity of children and youth.
6. Specifics of nutrition of athletes.
7. Medicine problems of endurance athletes.
8. Medicine problems of swimming sports and diving.
9. Medicine problems of strength sports and bodybuilding.
10. Medicine problems of climbing and alpine tourism. Adaptation to altitude environment.
11. Thermoregulation in sport. Hyperthermy and hypothermy.
12. Death accidents in sport and their prevention.
13. Woman and sport. Sports activity in older and old age.
