Course objectives:
|
This course is intended only for lifelong learning participants. The aim of the course is to introduce lecture participants to basic terms in the field of photography, photographic creation, technology and the history of photography. Specifically, this subject equips students with mainly basic theoretical knowledge: principles of photography, photographic techniques and photography technology, photographic equipment, photographic lens - types, parameters, exposure, exposure values and their practical use, basic principles of lighting, color in photography, structures and compositions photographic image, photographic genres and their most important representatives in a historical context.

Requirements on student
|
Attendance at lectures, successful completion of semester work. Participation in classes in the minimum range of 75% (in case of serious circumstances can be modified by the guarantor of the subject).
Completion of the didactic test on the subject of photography at 70%.

Content
|
Indicative content of individual seminars (can be modified by the teacher during the lesson):
1. Introduction to the subject. Basic concepts of digital photography - image formats and their use, basic settings; basic processing, storage adjustments, presentation, transport, outputs, archiving. Task assignment.
2. Digital cameras; principle, division, construction, parts, functions, modes. Natural and artificial lighting, memory cards, connectors, card readers. Control of a specific device. Examples.
3. Classic analog photography. The principle of the camera obscura. Latent image phenomenon. Analog cameras; types, construction and function of individual parts.
4. Classic photography. Negative and positive process. Types of materials. Procedure, processing, archiving, presentation, outputs. Transforming a latent image into a real one - a physical-chemical process, a practical demonstration.
5. Exponometry - basic concepts: exposure time, aperture and f-number, sensor and film sensitivity (ISO), meaning and practical use of exposure values. Compensation, recalculation of exposure, examples.
6. Exposure measurement methods - external, internal. Methods of measuring reflected and incident light. Advantages, use. TTL metering; types, methods, uses. Integral, point and zonal measurement.
7. Photographic optics; lens imaging. photographic lenses; species, basic characteristics. Display Terms. Sharpness of the photographic image. Concept of depth of field, hyperfocal distance. Lens focusing methods. Image stabilizers.
8. Concept of construction and composition of a photographic image. The structure of the photographic shot, the stages of technical realization of photography by classical and digital systems. Exposure strategy for photographing the chosen subject. Lighting specification of the photographed scene.
9. Color composition in photography and its function. Working with light, types and importance of lighting. Basic principles of lighting design in the studio, working with light in color and black-and-white photography.
10. Basic photographic genres; specifications, procedures, technical equipment, processing. Special photographic techniques; equipment, aids, application.
11. Technique and strategy of shooting different photographic genres - landscape, still life, architecture, portrait, reportage, documentary, staged photography, macro photography.
12. The origin and development of photography. History and emergence of photographic genres and directions. Photography in the context of the development of visual arts. Social and cultural significance of photography.
13. Personalities of world, Czechoslovak and Czech photography. Prominent representatives of genres, directions and groups.
Individual lessons can be supplemented with examples of photographs and the projection of documentary films.
