Course objectives:

To give the students the ability to evaluate both economic and legal aspects of European economic integration. To provide the students a more complex view through historical, economic, and legal consequences of EU economic policies.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
The students will:
- describe the main stages of economic integration in general and the development in Europe
- explain conditions for success of functioning of a customs union
- compare the situation of particulars groups of EU Member States ("old" member states, new member states...) as to the individual EU economic policies
- summarise the causes and consequences of monetary policy harmonisation and unification on macroeconomic policy
- evaluate tax harmonisation in EU and its development
- relate enlarging and deepening of EU integration
- assess the development of legislation (adequacy of applying a certain type of a legal norm) in particular stages of economic integration development
- predict further development of EU enlargement process
- evaluate pros and cons of EU membersip for the Czech Republic |
