Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to provide the students with knowledge and skills for creative work with vector and bitmap graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
|
Requirements on student
|
- Regular attendance and active participation in common teacher-student sessions
- At least 3 consultation sessions with the teacher proving the development of work on assignments; each of the assignments has to be presented at least once,
- Submission of final versions of the assignments in both paper and electronic form (portfolio) in the required quality and to a set deadline.

Initial lesson, task assignments.
Photoshop - possibilities of using selections, a mask, basic principles of work with colour and layers.
Photoshop - advanced techniques of using colour, blending modes.
Photoshop - advanced techniques of using layers, masks, cutting group.
Photoshop - retouching photographs.
Illustrator - basics for creating objects (strokes and fills).
Illustrator - basics for transforming objects.
Students will work independently.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to compare and analyze different artistic expressions in digital media by criteria of esthetics, semiotics and technique on basic level,
to specify basic knowledge of supporting arts disciplines and their techniques and technologies,
about historical and contemporary style canons,
to recall basic knowledge of several common graphical editors with their specifics and usages,

Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to work independently and flexibly react to evaluating commentary of the teacher,
draw up a drawing sketch of your own compositional designs best in drawing programs or in graphic editors,
to show own creativity on generally assigned task, to show the will to find different artistic solutions, alter them and constructivelly evaluate,
to plan a simple project from design to realization, |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
of basic differences between bitmap and vector technology including its advantages and diadvantages,
of options of use of bitmap and vector graphic programs and their outcomes,
of basic technical and technological rules of pre-print preparations and preparations of print itself,

Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for advanced creativity (selections, mask, basic and advanced color techniques, layers, blending modes, clipping groups, photo retouching, creating and transforming objects, working with color and layers)
proposes surface stylization of visually processed topics and their integration into a graphically effective composition,
it can apply learned practices in combination with available technologies to create a static image for later use with multimedia applications,
basic procedures of suitable pre-press preparation and print preparation for the realization and presentation of the final product |
