Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to provide the students with the competence for realization of surface and spatial composition projects (the surface and graphic styling) and to teach them how to use the acquired knowledge into the surface graphic composition in a limited scale of colours at designing of a poster, industrial product package, electronic media, etc.

Requirements on student
|
Exam requirements:
- Regular attendance at classes - at least 80 per cent.
- Regular attendance and active participation in common teacher-student sessions.
- Completion, consultation, correction, and consequent submission of intermediate practical tasks (seminar works) in a required quality and to a given deadline.
- Regular consultation, correction, and completion of the final project.
- Presentation on CD
Assessment criteria:
Genuine interest in the branch accompanied with the willingness to think about and discuss it. Creative and meticulous completion of visual art related tasks is expected. The attempt to reach distinctive visual concept with a range of preparatory studies will be a part of the assessment. Another criterion would be the willingness to participate in creating friendly and cooperative atmosphere.

Subject content 1.-13. Setting the principles of mutual communication during the seminar. Getting acquainted with the equipment and work rules in the seminar rooms. Setting the final work topic. Shape reduction. Universality of graphic reduction. Choice and ability to work out design elements into a meaning-determined project. 2D and 3D composition exercises. 3D prints. Dialogue of flat forms and volume. Flat, static, dynamic and expressive character in a colour field of dominating motives. Design reduction. Flat reduction. Graphically effective composition - power and effect of expression, limiting the colour scale. Posters, wrappers, print matters, electronic media - poster designs. Subject content. Design principles and rules in typography. Typographic tools in graphic programmes and their use. Making student´s own print portfolio. Seminar evaluation.
Correction, consultations and continuous handing in all assigned partial seminar tasks proceed throughout the semester. Correction, consultations and continuous creating the semester work (KP) proceed throughout the semester.
