Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to teach the students the illustrative and book creation for the adults, e.g. poetry, historical novel, science fiction, classical or contemporary fiction, etc. Further, to extend the current competence of a student, to apply the illustrative and book creation within larger scope and to adapt the lessons to an individual talent and orientation of a student.

Requirements on student

Credit requirements:
- Participation in seminars, - Completion and submission of all specified studio sub-tasks (seminar works) in the extent and deadlines set by the teacher.
Requirements for passing the exam:
- Previously obtained credit, - Demonstrating inventiveness, - Compulsory corrections of semester project, - Submitting and defending semester project - Presentation.

Content
|
1. Familiarization of students with Preincubation project, client presentation, formulation the assigned project, definition the goals, familiarization with results of research of the market etc. 2. Build students' working team. An excursion in the client's company, familiarization with technological and material limiting the order. 3. Research and specification the project. 4. The first sketches of ideas and highlighting possibilities solution. Improving team structure on the base the sketches of ideas. 5. Developing chosen options, re-building the team according to number of options. 6. Selection the one of the options for realization and re-building the team for finalization the project. 7. Finishing the chosen option and reallocation the tasks for finalization of visualization the models and maquettes. 8. Finishing visualization and creation models and maquettes. Improving team structure for finishing project. 9. - 12. Finalization. Preparing the presentation and dividing the tasks in the team. 13. Public presentation and defence in the presence of project leader and a client. Evaluation the project within teams.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
Knowledge and skills of the secondary studio subject previously level. This course is intended only for students of Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art University of West Bohemia. Motivation and personal interest of the student is a necessary prerequisite.

Student: - is in touch with the client, respects client´s requirements - formulates results of research of the market - submits sketches in setting deadline and proposes the best solution - selects and finishes selected option - makes a visualization, models or a maquette - the project presents and defends, actively participating in the project evaluation within teams. |
