Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to teach the students, who can attend this course as the second atelier, to design the illustrated books (i.e. illustrating, graphic layout, form of bookbinding, design of cover, etc.) Further, to enable them to specialize in specific field of graphic design according to an individual talent or to learn the different types of tasks within the wide scope of graphic design.

Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements:
- Regular active participation in seminars - at least 80 per cent.
- Completion and submission of all specified studio sub-tasks (seminar works) in the extent and deadlines set by the teacher.
Requirements for passing the exam:
- Previously obtained credit,
- Demonstrating inventiveness and craft abilities,
- Compulsory corrections of semester project,
- Submitting and defending semester project
- Presentation.

Content
|
Students of master's program can enroll in this course as in so-called second studio.
Weeks 1 - 13 - Determination of principles for communication during the semester, assignment of the topic of semester project. - Creating layout of books, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, brochures, invitations, posters, leaflets. - Creation of illustrative material (drawings, paintings, photographs ...) as a starting point for creating illustrated books, posters, etc. - Introduction to work and enhancing skills in the use of computer programs for typography and image processing. - Combining images and fonts. - Specific typographical rules for setting of specialized publications. - Continuous input, consultation, correction, production and submission of partial seminar tasks. - Presentation. Examples of topics for seminar exercises: - Children's magazine cover design. - Draft of prospectus, catalog. - Proposals of covers and illustrations accompanying a book series. - Design of a manual for a technical product. - Layout of an academic text.

designing prints and visual forms of electronic media on a given topic uses a wider range of basic graphics,
proposes surface stylization of visually processed topics and their integration into a graphically effective composition,
reflects his work in historical and contemporary contexts,
reflects its work in the context of professional, technical and technological processes,
with erudition, presents his work to the professional community
he is able to accept and assert in a way the evaluation and critical response |
