Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to teach the students, who can attend this course as the second atelier, to react to a visual stimulation in concrete place (street, square, garden, etc.) or at a public institution and to create some comprehensive conception of the graphic project for the chosen place. Further, to enable them to specialize in specific field of graphic design according to an individual talent or to learn the different types of tasks within the wide scope of graphic design.

Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements:
- Regular active participation in seminars - at least 80 per cent.
- Completion and submission of all specified studio sub-tasks (seminar works) in the extent and deadlines set by the teacher.
Requirements for passing the exam:
- Previously obtained credit,
- Demonstrating inventiveness and craft abilities,
- Compulsory corrections of semester project,
- Submitting and defending semester project
- Presentation.

Content
|
Students of master's program can enroll in this course as in so-called second studio.
Weeks 1 - 13 - Determination of principles for communication during the semester, assignment of the topic of semester project. - Drawing and photographic studies of the selected environment. Collection of information. - Alternative solution proposals. - Means and methods of manufacturing models and scale models. - Visualization of the project with graphic and digital techniques (scale model, 3D models, electronic presentation). - Continuous production and consultation about semester project. - Continuous production and submission of seminar works. - Presentation.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
about a wider range of basic graphic assets (font, image, shape, color, etc.),
about their possible reciprocal compositional relationships,
about historical and contemporary style canons
about graphical tools suitable for graphic design in its traditional and digital form,
designing variants with a respect to correctly linking the function and aesthetic criteria of the product,
about mechanism of communication with the client to determine his/her requirements |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
designing prints and electronic media on a given topic uses a wider range of basic graphics,
proposes surface stylization of visually processed topics and their integration into a graphically effective composition,
choose the appropriate technology for producing the final product,
reflects his work in historical and contemporary contexts,
reflects its work in the context of professional, technical and technological processes,
submit his proposal and selection to the contracting authority and justify it in the respect to the task and his/her requirements,
with erudition, presents his work to the professional community,
he is able to accept and assert in a way the evaluation and critical response |
