Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to teach the students general creation of books - sketching of illustration for selected text of any genre and actual realization of the book in graphic workshop by means of serigraphy, gravure, etc. Further, to extend the current competence of a student, to apply the illustrative and book creation within larger scope and to adapt the lessons to an individual talent and orientation of a student.

- Participation in seminars, - Submission of all studio sub-tasks in the required quality and extent.
Requirements for passing the exam: - Previously obtained credit, - Demonstrating inventiveness, - Production and submission of semester project, - Presentation.

Content

Students of master's program can enroll in this course as in so-called second studio. Weeks 1 - 13 Hand crafted book. The choice of text, choice of genre. Sketching of illustration for the selected text and genre. Implementation of a book in the graphic workshop with selected graphic technology. Continuous assignment, correcting, consulting and submitting of seminar sub-tasks. Continuous creation, correcting and consulting of the semester project. Submitting the semester project. Presentation.

V sérii předmětů větve Ilustrace a grafika se pohybujeme na širším poli ilustrační tvorby. Výběr žánrů od poezie přes historický román, sci-fi, po beletrii klasickou či současnou. Pro všechny projekty je společné to, že na konci našeho snažení by měla být ilustrovaná kniha, vytištěná, buď digitální nebo nějakou klasickou grafickou technikou (malonákladová bibliofilie), s vyřešeným designem a vazbou. Setkáme se zde také s tvorbou autorských knih a objektů vycházejících z knihy. Do rámce této větve také patří tvorba grafická, kresebná či malířská, orientovaná k literárnímu tématu. Students will be equipped with skills for applied illustration and book design on a wide scale. They will master creation of bibliophilies (sketching an illustration, implementation of the book in the graphic workshop). They will demonstrate versatile creative thinking and feeling for drawing, painting and graphic art. They will be able to apply their experience in developing bibliophilies, they will be able to propose more solution alternatives, choose the most appropriate option and then apply it to carry out the work.
