Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for working in didactic illustration. Students will learn the rules of basic technical and technological procedures in the design and implementation of illustrations applied to the needs of education and gaming activities. They will develop their skills in researching a given topic, critically assessing the proposed options, selecting the most suitable final solution, testing it on a target group's control sample and finally defending it against the broader and professional public according to art-aesthetic criteria applied in the field.

Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements:
- Active participation in seminars - Continuous creation and implementation of assigned seminar tasks.
Requirements for passing the exam:
- Obtaining prior credit, - Presentations at seminars, - Ongoing design, consultations and successful completion of all assigned projects according to studio art teacher's instructions.
Students must demonstrate mastering traditional technologies of precise drawings and paintings, knowledge of specific composing methods and knowledge of the method of analysis and instructional illustration construction.

Content

Students of the master's program can enrol in this course as in so-called second studio. Weeks 1 - 13 By targeting individual talent, students may specialize in art production for a particular age group or deal with art work for all age groups. - Picture alphabet, picture dictionary, - Primer, a textbook for the 1st grade of primary school, - Textbooks for the 2nd grade of primary school - Educational boards on topics: minerals, insects, - Educational boards on topics: farm life, city life, - Educational boards on topics: human anatomy, - Educational boards on topics: the universe, - Maps, image maps of animals, maps of historic sites, mineral resources, - Boards for history teaching (eg. life in a medieval castle) - Historical landmarks (the Thirty Years War, First World War) and others.

on a broad spectrum of basic illustrating means,
about their possible mutual compositional and functional relationships,
about the technical and technological methods of illustrating creation,
about historical and contemporary stylish canons of illustration,
about gradation of narration and the creation of simple game and educational interactive elements,
about designing variants of the artwork with respect to correctly linking its intended function with aesthetic criteria,
about mechanism of communication with the client to determine his/her requirements |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
chooses the appropriate illustrating technique with respect to the given topic,
synthesizes the text part into an art abbreviation,
proposes and creates simple game and edukative elements that stimulate the interaction of the reader / viewer with the work,
chooses the appropriate mock-up technology and suggests the process of manufacturing the final artwork,
reflects his work in historical and contemporary contexts,
reflects his work in the context of professional, technical and technological processes,
with erudition, presents his work to the professional community
is able to accept and use creatively the critical and critical response,
submits his proposal and selection to the contracting authority and explains it with respect to specifications and the requirements |
