Course objectives:
The subject is intended for students of the doctoral study program.
The aim of the course is to prepare students to enter the academic research world and master the principles of the academic way of working with texts and professional writing style not only in the Czech language, but also in English. The subject enables doctoral students to acquire not only a broader orientation, but also the practical skills needed for the preparation of a professional article, a conference paper, etc. The doctoral students acquire new professional competences for scientifically (genre, argumentative, methodological, terminological, conceptual, innovative) acceptable solutions to the investigated problems. The subject is a combination of lecture and seminar.
The lectures: - understanding and interpretation of scientific texts - the main reasons and principles of the academic scientific way of writing, - perform them through the process of writing professional texts (formal requirements of professional texts, including the formulation of the title, annotation, content, hypothesis, methodology, argumentation), - learn the principles of correct citation - help with orientation in possible information sources, various types of databases and online catalogs (e.g. Web of Science, Scopus), - introduce students to the process of preparing a professional article for publication in a peer-reviewed professional journal, - introduce students to the process of submitting a contribution to the conference, - to clarify the definitions of the types of results
The seminar allows students to practically try out and practice the application of the theoretical foundations from the lecture. The seminar will focus on: - strengthening of competences for writing professional articles, contribution to the conference - strengthening orientation in the search for peer-reviewed professional journals suitable for eventual publication of students' professional articles. The seminar will also include the practical development of writing skills, where students will write short research texts and present them during the semester. Each text will be subjected to analysis and critical debate. Students will also be provided with a regular opportunity for individual consultation of specific texts, which will allow them to ask individualized questions and identify key problems in the student's approach to writing.
Requirements on student
The student studies the assigned literature and continuously completes the tasks assigned by the teacher. During the semester, students prepare texts of a smaller scale, which they then present in the seminar.

The specific content of the seminar activities is specified based on the course guarantor's consultations with the supervisors of the students attending the course in the given semester and possibly the Chairman of the Industry Council. The course content for individual semesters is adjusted especially about the focus of individual students' dissertations and current doctoral projects being solved.
