Course objectives:
The course is intended to give students understanding, a practice and skills for professional work above all both on the design of pressure boundaries of nuclear (and non-nuclear) equipments and on the evaluation of their service life and functionality.
Requirements on student
Student attendance and active work at the semestral project. Knowledge of basic rules for the design of pressure boundaries of nuclear and non-nuclear equipments. To draw up a seminar work containing the design of a given component (i.e. a flange joint) with the aim of its strength assessment certificate, of its life and of the functional requirements.
Content
Using given technical specifications, students will - accomplish the proposal of base dimensions of a desired component (i.e. of a flange joint) together with used materials, - create the essential drawing documentation, - determinate forces in separate parts of the component (bolts, seal, etc.) and verify its tightness, - perform checking calculation of the component (at least in a simplified version) using the software ANSYS, - make out the seminar work in the form of required technical documentation.
