Course objectives:
|
The main aim of the course is to introduce the students of the Faculty of Design materials and technologies used in design and art. Emphasis is placed primarily on the technological, ecological, constructional advantages of particular categories. The course is divided into two parts. In the first nine lectures, individual categories of materials are presented. Emphasis is placed on the most used materials that surround us (cast iron, steel, aluminum alloys, wood, textile materials). The second part deals with technology of production, joining, corrosion protection, etc. Here the main emphasis is put on the casting of copper and iron alloys event. aluminum or magnesium alloys. Forming technologies will be focus on forging. From the surface treatments, the main attention will be paid to the zinc coating, chromium coatings and other protection coatings.
