Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to expand basic knowledge in the field of welding technology. Students build skills and knowledges on their previous experience (Materials Science, Engineering Materials) and especially the course "Technology of Forming, Casting and Welding". The content of the course is as follows: welding methods, basic concepts and definitions. Temperature and deformation effect of welding, temperature field and its solution. Structure of the weld joint, metallurgical processes during fusion welding. Weldability and its assessment. Principles of steel welding. Theory and basics of arc welding technologies like a covered electrode or welding in protective atmospheres. Temperature regimes during welding. Heat treatment after welding. Legislation in welding, quality of welds. Simulation of the welding process - effect on residual stresses, deformations and phase changes. Strength calculations of welds and welded constructions. Effect of welding procedure on fatigue, corrosion and creep properties.
