Course objectives:

The basic objective of the course is to appropriately and effectively define, describe and solve present topics of legal issues of doing business in the electronic communication networks, in media as a content part of the electronic communication networks, of copyright law and regulation of advertising in media as well as relationships arising while using computer network Internet including doing business on Internet.

|
The course relates to legal matters at doing business in electronic communication networks, in media and in using internet computer network. Relevant national, European and international law shall be analyzed. Basic knowledge of related subjects, especially of civil and commercial law is necessary.
1. Introductory lecture, basic of Communication law, conditions for successful completion of an exam. Definition, scope and sources of Communication law, historical overview of telecommunication law. 2. Doing business in the electronic communication networks - regulation of communication activities, objectives and basic regulatory principles, licenses issued by Czech Telecommunication Office, administration of frequency spectrum and its impact on operators' business, types of electronic communication services provided by an operator in the electronic communication networks, administration of numbers, relevant markets and their impact on operators, state administration in electronic communications. 3. Agreements concluded between network operators - type of agreements, requirements, billing of price, complaints, dispute resolution at CTO/court. 4. Agreements concluded between network operators and customers/consumers - type of agreements, requirements, billing of price, complaints, dispute resolution and specifics of consumer agreements. 5. Protection of personal, operational and localization data in electronic communication networks - security, message monitoring. 6. Historical overview of media law, print media, electronic media - definition, obligation of broadcasters, broadcasters with license, registration of transmitted broadcasting. 7. Broadcasters obliged by law, law on audiovisual media services on demand, regulatory bodies of media market. 8. Protection of personality and reputation of legal entity in media - definition of protection of personality, right on name, appearance, credit and dignity, personal verbal presentation, licenses based on law, newscast in media and protection of personality, legal tools for protection of personality. 9. Copyright law in media - definition of copyright law, author's work, author, author's personal/property rights, legal tools for protection of author's rights, license agreements. 10. Rights of performing artist to art performance, right of audio recording producer to the audio record, right of audio-visual recording to initial record, right of radio and television broadcaster, right of publisher, collective rights administration. 11. Regulation of advertising - definition, content regulation of advertising, basic obligation for advertising, misleading/comparative advertising; regulation of advertising for electronic cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, drugs, foods and baby nutrition, shooting guns, funeral services, gambling. Regulatory bodies for observing the law. 12. Internet law - definition of domain and domain name, legal nature of domains, domain disputes, content of internet pages - texts, photos, videos, claims from right violation. 13. Internet law - liability for own internet content, liability for somebody else's internet content, conclusion of agreement, trading on internet, e-commerce.
