Course objectives:

The objective is to provide a comprehensive overview in the field of certain important matters emerging in different historical eras of Roman Law (nation, freedom, authority, humanity, loyalty, etc.). The course is to familiarize students with the various conceptions of Roman law since Justinian?s times until present.

2. Isolation: legal science as the art of separating and isolating ? separating law from what is not law, separating civil law from holy law, public law from private law, etc.
3. Abstraction in RL ? working methods of Roman lawyers and specific examples of their mistrust in legal abstraction
4. Simplicity as the principal property of classical RL, tradition in RL
