Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of plastics and their composites, their material, mechanical and technological properties, which are quite different from metals. To explain to students the different conditions in machining these materials.

Credit conditions: participation in seminars and final test encompassment
Examination:
List of examinational questions will be supply by guarantee of subject. Examination is consists of written part (three questions or task calculation) and oral part (discussion of details of written part).

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
To describe basic machining methods. |
To describe the geometry of the cutting tool. |
To describe the basic types of atomic bonds |
Describe the basic mechanisms of behavior of metallic materials |
Know the basics of materials degradation |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
To design basic machining technology on different types of surfaces with regard to their quality and accuracy. |
To sketch the basic types of cutting tools. |
Know how to evaluate the results of basic material tests |
Knowledge of basic machining methods and geometry of the corresponding cutting tools.
Knowledge of plastic deformation and strengthening and debonding mechanisms in metal alloys.
Knowledge of the measurement of mechanical properties of surfaces and basic knowledge of the study of the structures of metal alloys (metallography).
Basic knowledge of polymeric materials and the difference in mechanical and technological (machinability) properties compared to metal alloys. |
