Course objectives:

This course is open to students who have passed the entrance swimming test (testing their locomotary skills) and who are interested in improving their swimming skills in various swimming strokes. Increasing intensity of the training leads to positive changes in the organism, which improve the health and increase physical condition.

Requirements on student
|
Enrolments to the classes of P.E. are done by students according to their interests, abilities and sport skills.The condition for successful completion of the course and obtaining the credit is respecting the rules of regular attendance in P.E. classes, which is stated in the study regulations of the Department of Physical Education and Sports (KTS) at the University of West Bohemia (ZČU).
Students obtain the credit for active participation in semestral classes of P.E. of the chosen sports specialization.
Regular attendance in P.E. classes and an active approach to the classes is the essential prerequisite.Irregular attendance and a passive approach to the classes make it absolutely impossible for students to obtain the credits.In case of absence in classes, not higher than 30% the student has the possibility of compensation of the well-founded and apologized absences and obtaining the credit.

Content
|
In the first year of studies the classes are orientated on the improvement of techniques of breast stroke, backstroke and on the practice of crawl-stroke. In the next years of studies the classes are orientated on further improvement of these strokes with a special view to endurance. It is possible to start with the practice of butterfly stroke with students of top technical performance. The rescue of drowning persons is practised in all years of studies. Water polo is an additional discipline.

After 2 semesters of this course students are able to master the basic techniques of breast stroke, backstroke and crawl-stroke. In the next years of studies students get familiar with butterfly stroke as well. Students also learn basic grips and grasps of the rescue of drowning persons. |
