Course objectives:
|
This course is intended only for students of long learning course. This is an art course, the main goal of which is not to improve one's own art skills, but through practical activities to understand from the ground up the construction of so-called realistic and modernist images in their mutual relations. On the basis of partial practical exercises, the candidate will master the most essential principles of illusion painting, which is not a transcription of reality, but one of many approaches to enrich one's own visual perception. The curriculum is based on the findings of Robert Sols (Cognition and the Visual Arts), who identified the pillars of Renaissance painting.
|
Requirements on student

Content
|
The basis of the course is practical painting and drawing with priority application of the discussed art medium. The conclusion of each course will be an analysis of one's own work and the work of other students.
Each of the lessons will contain short introductory motivational inputs with visual material, from which the theoretical basis of the course is created. Students are encouraged to continue working at home.
1. Introduction (presentation of the course concept and requirements to applicants and lecturers).
2. Size of the object to the format and its height from the base (choice of format and type of paper, size of the object - distance from the observer, which means a 1:1 ratio, height from the base in relation to the object - space).
3. Orientation of the object (relationship between the positions overhead view, low view, direct view of the viewer, the content of teaching at the Academy from the Renaissance to the 19th century).
4. Shading options in the drawing (difference between flat object and modeled, shading towards the modeling of the object in the drawing).
5. Properties of materials, surface, texture in the drawing (texture of the object and texture as a space-creating element).
6. Modeling and expression of material in painting.
7. Modeling and expression of material in painting.
8. Color construction of a classical image (imprimatura, drawing, light and shadows, glazes).
9. Color construction of a classic image (imprimatura, drawing, light and shadows, glazes).
10. Space - examples of perspectives.
11. Atmospheric perspective (on examples of the Renaissance - the relationship of the front planes of the image to the back planes due to the saturation of colors and the choice of shades).
12. Linear perspective (on examples of the Renaissance - the relationship of all partial parts of the image is subordinate to the coordinates in the vanishing point scheme).
13. Other concepts of space construction (meaningful, hieratic, spherical perspective.).
