Course objectives:
|
This course is intended only for lifelong learning participants. This is an art course, the main goal of which is not to improve one's own art skills, but through practical activities to understand from the ground up the construction of so-called realistic and modernist images in their mutual relations. The course conveys the painterly concept of the world based on the principles of modern art, often described as abstract. This part of the course moves from the expression of the seen reality to other properties and contents of the image, understood as a system of signs. Building sensibility for a color composition is built on a dialogue with works of impressionism, post-impressionism and expressionism.
|
Requirements on student
|
Completion of all semester assignments in the required quality and on time according to the teacher's instructions. Participation in classes in the minimum range of 75% (in case of serious circumstances can be modified by the guarantor of the subject).
|
Content
|
The basis of the course is practical painting and drawing with priority application of the discussed art medium. The conclusion of each course will be an analysis of one's own work and the work of other students.
Each of the lessons will contain short introductory motivational inputs with visual material, from which the theoretical basis of the course is created. Students are encouraged to continue working at home.
Indicative content of individual seminars:
1. The situation of painting at the end of the 19th century. ("disintegration" of the object and the illusion of space in the picture - impressionism, the question of color spots, brushstrokes).
2. Change of color on the palette (understanding of colors in relation to the color wheel and historical changes of the color scale at the turn of the 19th/20th century).
3. The influence of expressionism - luminosity contrast of colors, gesture.
4. The influence of expressionism - luminosity contrast of colors, gesture.
5. The influence of post-impressionism, P. Cézanne - temperature contrast of colors (self-portrait depending on haptic experience, without the help of a mirror).
6. Influence of post-impressionism, P. Cézanne - temperature contrast of colors (self-portrait depending on haptic experience, without the help of a mirror).
7. Construction of the image through color sessions (as the main motif of modernity - M. Salcman).
8. Contrast of complementary colors (stylized self-portrait using two complementary colors).
9. The number of elements in the picture (a form of color collage, from Matisse to Rothko).
10. Types of abstraction (different types of elements - organic, geometric...).
11. Changing the background of the painting (canvas preparation options).
12. Changing the background of the painting (canvas preparation options).
13. Free composition with the application of knowledge from the course.
