Course objectives:
|
The course is intended only to participants of lifelong learning. The aim of the course is to familiar the students with machines, tools and materials used in jewelry. Familiarize them with processing non-traditional materials - a perspex, a wood, a paper). Familiarize them with the basic of metal processing, production techniques and procedures used in jewelry (cutting, drilling, filing, soldering). Explain the students various technical ways how to modify the jewelry, familiarize participants with substances used in jewelry. During the semester students create a simple ring.

Credit requirements: Fulfilment all semestral tasks in a quality and extent set by the teacher.

Content
|
The course will be realized by practical exercise and lectures (3 hours a week for 13 weeks). The part of the lesson is working out assignment according to discussed topics in extent 1-2 hours a week. List of discussed topics: 1. Familiarization of students with safety regulations, studio equipment, machines and tools. 2. Materials used in jewelry. 3. Familiarization of students with technological process and techniques used in jewelry. 4. Chemicals used in jewelry. 5. Rolling and annealing of the material, measuring and drawing. 6. Dividing materials - cutting. 7. Shaping and equilibrating sheet metal. 8. Filing, drilling. 9. Pulling, winding and bending wire 10. techniques of surface working jewelry - sanding, polishing, shortening. 11. Soldering. 12. Breaking, soldering a hollow objects. 13. Create a simple ring.
Detailed information about the course and content of the seminars during the semester shall notify the teacher in the initial hour.
