Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to help students to fully develop the knowledge and skills necessary for designing and implementing authorial projects using a conceptual understanding of a wide range of expressive tools used in human culture. Knowledge of cultural and historical context will be used by students in their own creative practice for a new update of traditional media by quoting, reproduction or remake techniques. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course will support students' ability to choose an innovative solution and accentuate interdisciplinary overlap by using results from other cultural and scientific areas and to apply in practice as an original and original author.
While the methods and forms of teaching can be described very specifically, the content structure of the subject can be defined only in general. It is a type of teaching specific to art schools where the topics of the teaching and therefore its content structure is very flexible. It results from the individual predispositions and inclinations of students and from the current socio-cultural and therefore also stylistic context of their work. Both in the field of theoretical knowledge (Episteme) and in the field of practical realization of the final product-artifact (Fronesis), student's knowledge is always shaped in a unique way.

Requirements on student
|
- attendance at the first few lessons is obligatory - non-attendance needs to be dealt with the teacher (individually)
- regular seminar attendance as well as inventiveness of the student is required
- 90% seminar attendance
- completion of all atelier tasks based on teacher's requirements
- submission and defense of the main term project in the form of sketches, drafts and preparatory texts and materials (incl. set requirements)
- independent choice of topics for the term project implementation
- conceptual approach to the implementation of a set, individual, or a collective project
- written elaboration, sketches, computer implementations, designs, maquettes and photographic cycles
- procedures during the film and documentary work implementation, ability to distribute competencies within the group (teamwork); oral defense of the aim

- setting themes for final TP (term project) - orientation and possibilities - studying the problematic; continuous lectures given by the teacher - continuous development, correction and consultation of partial atelier works - defining the content of a student's project - project aimed at interactive communication - engagement of the users, viewers, and the audience - creation, concept and visual aspect of the interactive project - preparation and consequent realization of the concept - introduction to programming (in cooperation with IT students - the task will be to design and develop simple PC game) - creating a graphic form (drafts, sketches, 3D realization, simple interactivity) - 3D graphics use for film effects, implementation of 3D to a film, programming an easy interaction - continuous corrections, consultation and development of term project (TP) - the use of the media for a non-traditional art work - leading the students to the readiness of judgment, criticism, as well as critical self-evaluation of their own work - conceiving the form chosen as the elaborated unit from the mechanical, technical and content point of view - technically well implemented elaboration with the ambition of meaningful and imaginative project solution, such as interactive, mechanical or a computer system in the frame of projects - portfolio
Overview of a topic procedure during the completion of a partial part of the project: - Authorizing DVD program in the After Effect space - lecture, demonstrating the possibility of use - lecture on picture composition and colour in digital as well as film implementation - setting a topic, collective seminar, problem analysis - a guest lecture on a given topic - consultation of sketches, drawings or digital implementations of the aim - discussion over models, semi-finished video presentations or short films - compulsory seminars - cooperation with professionals from the fields of science and technology - visiting running exhibitions - seminar work on a given theme - consulting the choice of a media to finish the realization - project realization, work installation - exhibition - public presentation, defense, submission of the seminar work; individual opinion and reflection on the work done; thematic lectures in written and digital mode based on a personal view and insight

to recall knowledge about a wider range of professional expressive and visual tools of new media and conceptualism, about their possible reciprocal compositional relationships and their use for aplicated multimedial, spacial and interactvie products of different forms and for their relation to cultural contexts ,
to recall and apply knowledge about technical and technological procedures of all disciplines of production team and supporting disciplines, about a wide array of technological and technical procedures for scanning, post-production and projection,
to interpret own knowlidge about historical and contemporary style canons and and options of interactive and motion design, their possible conections and boundaries,
to critically assess his/her own work in a discipline context,
to plan a project in the production team dealing with complex audiovizual projects, about ways to justify and defend your own design activity in relation to other members of the production team,
to recall knowledge and to valorize experince of possibilities of inspiration and creation initiated by own innovative intention and a generally assigned task in a form of using media in a non-traditional way of artistic representation - setting as a part or a final aspect of architectonic designs,
to reproduce theoretical knowledge of function and specifics of PC softwares for artistic creation and artistic and production technologies, of technical differences and advantages of particula alternatives for different instances, |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to apply basic knowledge about working procedures in softwares suitble for creation in new media discipline (ADOBE, Photoshop, ADOBE Premiera; completion of 3D MAYA), to use digital camera, digital video camera through camera HDV format, to use wilder variety of advanced or experimental visual and expressive tools, to be able to kombine and alter them,
to plan a complex project of medial illustration and to suggest its different forms, individually and as a manager of a team of various staff professions during realization of interactive projects of different forms,
to choose the appropriate technology for producing the final product of different forms (audiovizual in space, interactive, etc.) based on its usage, to choose suitable technical and technological procedures and their combinations for reaching product of the highest quality,
to apply a wide array of ways of construction of action, including non-traditional practices,
to reflect its work in the context of professional, technical and technological processes, to submit his proposal and selection to the contracting authority and justify it in the respect to the task and his/her requirements,
to critically assess his/her own work in the field context and style framework,
manage eventual post-production of the project and ensure full project presentation and promotion,
with erudition, to present his work to the professional community,
to be able to accept and assert in a way the evaluation and critical response,
to explain and defend his/her choice from other members of the production team, assigning authority, commission or a spectator,
to be able to accept and assert in a way the evaluation and critical response and to react flexibly to it,,

to individually plan and realise more complex project using work with both software and hardware in the area of active edge of video and audio with the focus on active participation of viewers, users and the audience, including drawing designs of higher noticeable value for elaborating considering specifics based on the nature of the graphic technique and its overlap to other multimedial, interactive and siilar forms and their combination,
to critically assess his/her own work in the field context and style framework, to work with several varied alternatives and variations, to choose most suitable design based on specific requirements of each project, proposes and analyzes the specific creative themes of the projects and modifies them according to wider cultural circumstances,
to select the most suitable variant of the final graphic project and create complex design documentation, choose the appropriate technology for the most suitable form of realization, to manage the post-production of the project and to secure the full presentation and promotion of the project,
to make effort to find various solutions to given problem, to maintain originality of own design and to own advancement aiming to distinctie artistic and handicraft expression, to search for artistic answers for contemporary artistic and social questions,
to be able to accept and assert in a way the evaluation and critical response, to reflect own work in the context of professional, technical and technological processes, to flexibly alter own work on the basis of continuous reflection, which is able to effectivelly formulate,
to reflect his work in historical and contemporary contexts and to be aware of potencial of those contexts for own original expression and inspirational sources which work with this reality,

to practically apply conceptual artistic thinking, to create space video-projections or video-installations, to conceive the outer and inner space in a 3D mode, to create interactive objects as well as objects operated by computer programs.
