Course objectives:
|
The aim of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the basic principles of four traditional printing technologies: high print, deep print, desktop printing and stencil printing. Participants will learn about confrontation of historical and contemporary approaches in the field of graphic art and printing. The issue of graphic techniques will be conveyed to them as a support of drawing, painting, illustration. The teaching will be supported and documented by a number of experimental prints, which each participant takes in the form of a small book or brochure.

1. Initial lesson- defining the content of the subject, introduction to the issue of printing procedures, tools and materials used. Explaining the relationship to previously passed subjects and proportional relation of the subject´s current position to others. 2. Preparation for the semester projects realization 3. Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to equip drawing and layout procedures with free hands in basic graphic editors,
reproduce the names and definitions of the basic building elements of the graphic language,
to compare and analyze different artistic expressions by criteria of esthetics, semiotics and technique on basic level, |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
make drawing sketches of their own compositional designs by hands free in basic graphic editors,
present your suggestions to other team members, the sponsor (the teacher),
to show own creativity on generally assigned task, to show the will to find different artistic solutions, alter them and constructivelly evaluate,
to work both independently and in a team and activelly and flexibly react to evaluating commentary of the teacher, |

to recognize basic graphics techniques and their technology
to equip basic methods and techniques of common graphic techniques
to demonstrate a basic overview of materials and media suitable for graphic techniques
compare the results achieved on the given field of creation (both own and foreign) |
Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
The student can create a matrix that s/he would use throughout the semester. After undergoing individual practical excercises with this matrix, s/he will be able to identify particular work procedures leading to re-creating an image. After passing the course, the student will be able to choose the optimal procedure suitable for relization of his/her artistic intention (which means to choose the most suitable technique or medium). |
